Currently I am involved in studying the mechanism of myosin V and VI stepping via darkfield imaging of gold nanoparticles attached to an individual head of the dimmer. The high brightness and signal-to-noise of this technique allows for good spatial and temporal resolution (< 10 nm and sub-millisecond respectively) without applying a load.
