Alex Dunn, Post-Doc

Alex Dunn I'm interested in the fundamental details of how myosin turns the chemical energy of ATP hydrolysis into directed motion. My current project involves observing the motion of single myosin V molecules tagged with gold nanoparticles. The gold particle serves a a very bright marker, which allows us to watch the myosin walk along actin with sub-millisecond time resolution. I also plan to use other techniques, notably protein crystallography and computational modeling, to provide complementary means of learning more about how myosin works.
